Where would be a good place to find out about them? (Besides here) I ask as there is no revolver forum listed.
The one I'm looking at is made by Webley&Scott. 'War Finish' is about 80% with scattered light surface rust that should clean up nicely. Plastic grips have 'webley' in an oval molded in. Perfect bore.
Is it worth $200? I remember when you couldn't give one away. • This is a rare Webley Pryse D.A. Revolver with serial number 2650 with the barrel marked J. Jersey is an island of the coast of UK and France. It retains over 75% original blue finish.
  • The Webley revolver went through a number of changes, culminating in the Mk VI, which was in production between 1915 and 1923. The large.455 Webley revolvers were retired in 1947. The rate of fire for the Webley Mk VI is 20-30 rounds a minute.
  • Webley & Scott is one of the oldest names in the gun industry with almost two centuries of production of some of the most famous firearms the world has ever seen - the Webely revolver, shotguns, and Webley rifles.
  • Production of commercial Mk IV revolvers was resumed after the war, and serial numbering reached 172,219 as of 14 May 1947. - After 14 May 1947 serial numbers were prefixed by the capital letter 'A', and production continued for another ten years.
  • I admire your optimism Sir! It's a commercial purchase.455 Webley Mk III with the Serial Number '2929' and maker's name 'P. Webley & Sons London & Birmingham'. I undertand these to have been used for a limited time between about 1897 and about 1900 (I think) before being superseded my the Mk IV.
