Forge has most of Halo 5: Guardians' multiplayer features: It accommodates 16-player matches, the highly competitive Arena mode, and all of Halo 5's multiplayer maps, giving you a lot of content to enjoy. Plus, it has the near-limitless map customization offered by Guardians. You cannot earn ranks or customize your armor as you can in Halo 5 proper, which is a touch disappointing, but the gameplay is all here and that goes a long way.
Forge boasts beefy multiplayer offerings, but connectivity is an issue. You can't just jump in and find a game to play a few casual rounds, as you would in other competitive shooters. You need to create your own custom game lobbies and invite others to join in. This is simple enough if you have a sizeable Xbox friend list, but if you don't, you'll need to hunt down online communities through sites like Halo LFG and exchange gamertags to play in private lobbies. It is a much more involved process than I would like, and it is currently the only way to set up any multiplayer sessions. I would definitely like to see proper matchmaking in the future.
If you have a gamepad, jumping into Forge should feel fairly natural. If you want to play with keyboard and mouse, I recommend you go into the settings to tweak the combat controls. I found the mouse sensitivity to be too low by default, so I recommend adjusting that to your preference. Most of the action controls feel fine, with the exception of the booster/dodge function, which is mapped to the Caps Lock key. On PC, this limited FOV is a glaring issue, as PC gamers generally sit much closer to their monitor than console gamers do their TVs. Forge on PC feels like you're playing the game through a spyglass; the restricted FOV exaggerates your every action, which can give you a mean headache after extended play. Like the frame rate issue, 343 Industries is aware and is planning to add a FOV slider in the future.

Halo 5: Forge is the first big step forward for the PC Halo community.
